I still can’t get over that play. The defense on Eli… Eli’s escape… Eli’s throw… the initial catch by Tyree… Rodney Harrison’s excellent defense as Tyree made the catch… Tyree’s ability to still hold the ball against the helmet… the pivotal timing… amazing… one more Super Bowl decided by ONE PLAY… that was the play…
Congrats to the Giants and all of their fans!

In case you missed the scintillating post-game interview between Chris Myers and Bill Belichick, COSELLOUT has got the full transcript right here:
Chris Myers: Coach, you haven’t had this feeling in a long time. How would you describe it?
Bill Belichik: Not a very good one. We’re dissappointed.
CM: Where did the game get out of hand… Want to talk about the last drive?
BB: We had our chances on the last drive. They made some plays and they made some big ones at the end.
CM: Did you expect this kind of game in terms of a defensive low scoring game?
BB: Well, it was a 3-point game the last time we played them, so we knew it was going to be a tough hard fought game and it was.
CM: Can you talk about the defensive plan in that last drive… it looked like Eli Manning was gonna get sacked obviously and he got away and completed it to Tyree…
BB: Yeah, we got our hands on a few balls and we had some pressure on him but in the end they made those plays and we didn’t. That’s the difference in the game.
CM: What do you tell your team after a perfect season up until this point?
BB: Well, we’re disappointed.
CM: Okay coach, thank you very much.

Bill Belichick is a sore loser. He didn’t even stay on the field for the last kneel down. After all that winning you should take a loss like a man. This might be one of my favorite quotes in a long time via Osi Umenyiora –
“18-1…trademark that.â€
What a GREAT game! NE always finds another gear when they need to and when they scored their last td, i wasn’t much surprised. With two and a half mins left and ELI MANNING at the helm to manage a final drive? Gotta admit i was skeptical. But he did it! I don’t know how Tyree didn’t get the MVP! Amazing game and at the end BB exposed for the cretin he is.
I am still marveling at the Tyree catch.
As for BB, I don’t have a problem with the final second thing. He had already congratulated his opponent. The whole scene was quite weird. I thought that the refs should have just forgot about that last second really and started the celebration.
This is probably the one instance where I don’t have an issue with BB’s brevity in doing interviews. He certainly does not give his opponents anything to hang their hats on before or after games. I think some coaches may talk too much to the press about what they’d like to do.
Considering Tyree’s prior performance, that he went up against Rodney “Bleepin’” Harrison, that it was the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl with his team trailing and needing 6 – that simply has to be the most AMAZING catch EVER.
I’m still having trouble processing that one. Harrison’s taking that one to the grave. No doubt.
T3, just so you know, I have no issue with BB’s brevity either. I only posted it because I found it to be hilarious — in an off-beat sorta way. In general I don’t believe that the media is really owed anything by players or coaches besides their on-field performance.
I agree that Tyree gets top billing. Forget Lynn Swann.
Ouch!!! “Forget Lynn Swann.” That’s just straight blasphemy! Swann’s catches, emphasis on the plurality of his genius, are still in the pantheon of Super Bowl catches.
Tyree’s catch eclipses Swann, for me, on the basis of the moment AND the incompatibility of skill (at least up to that point) between he and Harrison. I expected Swann to beat up on the Cowboys – and he did.
“Forget Lynn Swann.” I’m gonna forget you said that. LOL
T3, not only that, but I was a Steelers fan as a young kid! (it was Cowboys or steelers growing up, before my transition to the Jets)
Listen, if we were handing out style points then Swann is the best receiver all-time. But since we are not, i would even argue that Stallworth was the better receiver — who made won of the most incredible catches that i have ever seen in a meaningless game against the Colts.
The other part of the Tyree catch which is so incredible is that we have never seen it before. Have you ever seen a guy trap a ball against his HEAD to maintain possession? Have you? …ridiculous…
I can’t even come up with a word outlandish enough to describe that play. I just saw it again in slow motion – the first part of the play where the Pats get three BIG hands on Eli’s jersey, but cannot get him to the ground is just nuts. Jarvis Green had him – and he got away. Amazing play. Best I’ve seen.
I was thinking that this makes up for all of Big Papi’s homers against the Yankees after they were up 3-0. Actually, the Yankees don’t need any help making up for anything. They don’t even say “Talk to the hand” – they say “Talk to the 26!”
I am a Giants fan from Argentina. Very nice Giants information.
I miss the days of Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms.
I hope to be in Chicago for a game this fall.
